If Porn Is Bad Why Is It The Net’s Billion Dollar Industry?

Take for instance the New York Times Magazine: It ran a cover story recently called “Naked Capitalists: There’s No Business Like Porn Business.” Its thesis: Pornography is big business–with $10 billion to $14 billion in annual sales. The author, Frank Rich, suggests that pornography is bigger than any of the major league sports, perhaps bigger than Hollywood.

There were only a few things selling on the Net in those days — books, some information, a product here and there, but far and away the biggest seller on the early Internet was porn.

Yes, the adult entertainment industry was dominant from almost day one. The Net’s ability to bring an unlimited horizon of information and entertainment directly to the privacy of your home made it the perfect vehicle for anyone ready to buy adult entertainment.

The huge demand for porn was not lost on corporate America. One of the only studies into where money flows in the porn industry revealed that many of America’s biggest mainstream entertainment companies were secretly behind the financing and distribution of porn. That’s right, the same companies that make G-rated movies available at Wal-Mart were also bringing adult entertainment to stores, mail order firms, and online sites.

Change Your Underwear Daily

There’s an old sea story about a ship’s Captain who inspected his sailors, and afterward told the first mate that his men smelled bad. The Captain suggested perhaps it would help if the sailors would change underwear occasionally. The first mate responded, “Aye, aye sir, I’ll see to it immediately!”

The first mate went straight to the sailors berth deck and announced, “The Captain thinks you guys smell bad and wants you to change your underwear.”

He continued, “Pittman, you change with Jones, McCarthy, you change with Witkowski, and Brown, you change with Schneider.”

THE MORAL OF THE STORY: Someone may come along and promise “Change”, but don’t count on things smelling any better.

Creator Of Personal Computer, iPad, iPod, iPhone. Apple Chief Steve Jobs Dies

The mastermind behind Apple’s iPhone, iPad, iPod, iMac and iTunes, Steve Jobs has died, Apple said. Jobs was 56. Mourners have gathered outside Apple stores in the US in an outpouring of grief, after the company announced today its founder and former CEO Steve Jobs had passed away from pancreatic cancer.
Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.

He was a college dropout who became obsessed with computers while working at Hewlett Packard over summer to raise money for an overseas trip, NY Daily News reports

There he met Steve Wozniak, and the friends later founded Apple Computer together in his parents’ garage in 1976, when Jobs was 21-years-old .

The company released the Apple I, and the Apple II. Four years later, at the age of 25, Jobs was worth US$239million.

He was fired from Apple the following year, in 1985, after a power struggle with the board. Jobs then acquired animation studio Pixar and turned it into a blockbuster-making powerhouse.

His return to Apple as CEO in 1997 saw a renaissance for the struggling company, starting with the popular iMac computer. Under his guidance, Apple revolutionised the music industry with the introduction of iPods and the iTunes store.

Apple shook up the mobile phone industry with the launch of the iPhone. Steve Jobs also oversaw the introduction of the iPad tablet computer in 2010.

He is survived by his wife Laurene and four children.

One year, I decided to buy my mother-in-law a cemetery plot as a Christmas gift…

The next year, I didn’t buy her a gift.

When she asked me why, I replied,

“Well, you still haven’t used the gift I bought you last year!”

And that’s how the fight started…..

My wife and I were watching Who Wants To Be A Millionaire while we were in bed.

I turned to her and said, ‘Do you want to have Sex?’

‘No,’ she answered. I then said,

‘Is that your final answer?’

She didn’t even look at me this time, simply saying, ‘Yes..’

So I said, “Then I’d like to phone a friend.”

And that’s when the fight started…
